NES Fircroft is currently recruiting for a Civil / Structural Design Engineer for our client, a global power technology company involved in the UK energy network upgrade.

We seek a candidate to join our Civil Design team, focusing on technical solutions for our Large Transmission Solutions business. The role involves collaboration across disciplines, providing solutions, technical input, and governance on live projects. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering value.
Your Profile:
* Experience beyond standard civil/structural engineering, supporting other disciplines
* Knowledge of M&E design concepts and coordination
* Experience with civil/structural design consultancy
* Broad experience in civil, structural, and architectural design
* Understanding of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and international design obligations
* Earthworks design knowledge and familiarity with Highway Works specifications
* Proficiency with computational frame design software (e.g., Masterseries, Tedds, STAD-Pro)
* Ability to interpret preconstruction information, geotechnical reports, and conduct forensic reviews of calculations
* Awareness of planning consents and managing third-party technical support
* Experience with multidisciplinary projects, especially in power transmission or similar industries
* Good technical knowledge and familiarity with British and European codes
* Skills in task scheduling, client communication, and managing design scope
* Qualifications in engineering or design, with Chartered Engineer status preferred
* Knowledge of Fire Design and asset protection concepts is advantageous
Your Responsibilities:
* Manage design and coordination packages from transfer to completion for electrical infrastructure projects
* Support procurement and construction teams technically
* Create designs using calculations, spreadsheets, and software
* Conduct governance checks on design efforts
* Ensure third-party designs meet contract and safety requirements
* Coordinate with disciplines, develop scoping documents, and manage tender packages
* Review and ensure interface compatibility between disciplines
* Plan design tasks aligned with procurement and construction timelines
* Monitor design progress, quality, and compliance
* Lead design reviews and liaise with clients and stakeholders
* Define technical requirements and manage design schedules
* Oversee building services design coordination and compliance with regulations
* Record changes impacting budget and schedule
* Conduct site visits to resolve construction issues
