As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Following a restructure of the Public Health Department, we are creating a new much needed health intelligence function. The Scottish Borders covers 116,000 people and includes the commuter belt to Edinburgh. It is roughly the same geographical size as Kent, or Northumberland with beautiful countryside and small historic towns such as Hawick, Galashiels, Peebles, Selkirk and Melrose. We have over 50 staff in our department which covers the 3 domains of public health, with a small senior team comprising 3 Consultants and 2 service heads. We are looking for someone to lead the development and delivery of the new health intelligence function under the new Consultant which will start small but build up over time through linkages with business intelligence in the NHS and analysts present in local (council, neighbouring Boards) and national bodies eg Public Health Scotland. This post, which is fixed term for 6 months and is fully remote working and will line manage one person. Pay is NHS Band 7 (Scotland) - £50,861 to £59,159 pro rata. We are looking for start as soon as possible. We welcome
