The Advanced Quality Engineer role is a permanent position, and the vacancy has arisen because of growing demand for future business with the customer. Our client is the largest global automotive seating supplier, with 75,000 employees operating in 230 manufacturing / assembly plants in 33 countries worldwide, producing and delivering automotive seating for all vehicle classes and all major OEM's. From complete seating systems to individual components, their expertise spans every step of the automotive seat-making process.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior QE, working within the Business Unit, you will be responsible for the application of Advanced Quality methodologies during the development of Nissan Programs. You will facilitate and lead the APQP team meetings and activity at a customer and supplier level via the Product Launch System from start to finish. You will liaise with contacts to ensure customer PPAP submission requirements are met. Being an active member of the team, you will lead the assessment of JIT launch readiness and planning for process sign off.
The Person
The successful candidate will be educated to at least HNC level in Engineering or equivalent and have previous experience of working within a Quality function in an Automotive Tier 1/2 manufacturing company; you must have previous experience of working with suppliers and customers to ensure successful product launch, with knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA & PFMEA methodologies, control plans, design verification and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly. Interiors or Seating experience would be desirable but is not essential however, you will have operated in a fast-paced environment where the demands of the customer are met.
You will be an autonomous, self-motivated individual who is willing to take responsibility for their own workload and at the same time support their team members. You will be a team player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Flexibility for travel is essential as you will be based in Sunderland with UK travel to suppliers.
