National Grid is hiring an Operations Analyst Engineer on a permanent basis. This role is based in our Taunton office, with a hybrid working model offered.
Job Purpose
This role provides dedicated IT support to National Grid Telecoms, ensuring staff have reliable access to tools and technology to operate effectively. As the primary contact for end-user device support within NG Telecoms, the role is critical to maintaining the UK's essential telecoms infrastructure. By enabling fast, secure, and resilient communication services, this position supports National Grid’s mission of delivering safe and reliable energy to millions. Responsibilities include working with Operations Lead Specialist Engineers to provide technical assistance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and support technical programs and products related to NG Telecoms.
What you'll do
* Work closely with the User Operations team, Service Desk, Field User team, and customers to resolve complex technical issues.
* Perform on-site hardware and software root cause fixes across multiple sites.
* Assist with large-scale projects impacting customers and staff.
* Collaborate with IT and Business departments to ensure products and applications are fit for purpose.
* Maintain documentation with clear records of systems and procedures.
* Design training materials and train users, advising on best practices.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including fire and emergency precautions.
About you
* Experience resolving difficult technical problems.
* Knowledge of technologies supporting endpoints in an enterprise environment.
* Experience working in an office setting and in customer-facing roles.
* Familiarity with Endpoint Management tools: SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, MDT.
* Extensive knowledge of Windows 10 and 11.
* Experience with Virtualisation: VMware and Hyper-V.
* Networking skills: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/VLAN/WAN.
* Programming skills: PowerShell, Batch, VBScript.
* Strong problem-solving, research, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Highly organized with the ability to work independently and under pressure, meeting strict deadlines.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £50,000 - £60,000, dependent on capability. The role is based in Taunton with a hybrid working policy allowing a mix of office and home working, subject to certain conditions.
