Position Overview:
Working in one of Finning’s workshops will place you in the very best environment to display your current engineering ability while acquiring new dealer level skills working on the Caterpillar product.
You will need to have both outstanding customer focus coupled with in-depth knowledge of plant equipment. The ability to carry out mechanical or electrical repairs and customised machinery fittings to large Caterpillar earth moving machinery in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner, utilising a combination of the most up-to-date dealer software and traditional repair techniques.
Job Description:
Overview of responsibilities
* Complete all health and safety pre-work documentation and liaise with the customer service team to provide the very best customer experience.
* Carry out the safe in-depth repair of earth moving equipment, attachments, and components.
* Identify any parts required and clearly communicate to the customer and service control team and execute the repair plan to the highest possible standards.
* Keep the workshop and work area in a clean and orderly condition while working to CAT contamination control guidelines and keeping yourself and colleagues safe.
What to expect
* You will work within the workshop either alone or in a small team, depending on the job.
* You will be issued a phone, laptop (with main dealer standard diagnostic software), and a range of specialist test tooling available from the tool stores. You are expected to have your own hand tools.
* Due to the large product range, there will be new challenges and experiences regularly.
Qualifications
Qualifications ranging from NVQ, City and Guilds, or similar in Plant fitting, LGV/HGV, automotive mechanical engineering, with demonstrable skills and experience working with plant or heavy vehicles will be considered. Formal apprenticeship training is preferred.
Personal skills, knowledge, and experience
* You must be self-motivated, adaptable, and possess strong planning and organisational skills.
* You should have effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Knowledge of good workshop practices, use of overhead cranes, specialist tools, and test equipment.
* Current working knowledge of earth moving equipment.
