A well-established, multi-site retail business with a growing national footprint is looking to appoint a Senior Accounts Payable Officer to strengthen its finance function. Operating across numerous locations and handling high transaction volumes, this is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, pace and complexity rather than routine processing.
The business operates across the UK with international supplier relationships, including a significant US invoice flow, making this a great opportunity for someone with exposure to multi-currency, multi-entity environments.
The role
Reporting into the wider finance team, as the Senior Accounts Payabale Officer you'll take day-to-day responsibility for senior-level accounts payable activity, ensuring invoices, payments and reconciliations are handled accurately and on time.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing end-to-end accounts payable processing across a multi-site operation
Managing high volumes of supplier invoices, with a strong focus on US-based suppliers
Ensuring accurate coding, approval workflows and timely posting of invoices
Running regular payment cycles, including ad-hoc and foreign currency payments
Managing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving aged or disputed balances
Handling utilities, rent and recurring supplier payments across multiple locations
Supporting expense processing and credit card reconciliations
Raising sales ledger invoices and monitoring aged debt where required
Liaising with overseas finance colleagues to ensure continuity and coverage
Supporting audit requests and maintaining strong financial controls
