Role Overview
IPS Employment Specialists are focused on making the journey into employment as easy as possible for clients who have mental health support needs. They will manage a caseload of clients, deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach (training will be provided), and provide person‑centred advice and guidance while building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment. The role sits within a primary care network, community mental health team, early intervention psychosis team or IAPT team, maintaining integrated relationships and fostering a holistic approach to recovery through employment.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of clients with mental health support needs, from vocational profiling to the point where they no longer require face‑to‑face support.
* Deliver the IPS approach, providing person‑centred advice, guidance and support throughout the employment journey.
* Build and maintain relationships with local employers to match clients with suitable employment opportunities.
* Work within a primary care network, community mental health team and/or IAPT/early intervention psychosis team to promote a holistic, recovery‑focused approach.
* Support clients through the six key stages of the IPS journey: outreach/referral, vocational profiling, action planning, job search activities, job placement and in‑work support, and withdrawal of support when no longer required.
