About The Role
An exciting opportunity in the Council’s legal department for a Principal Lawyer - Property, Planning and Regeneration to join the team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with initiative, a proactive approach to problem solving and a real commitment to the job. We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or equivalent qualification), ideally from the public sector but private sector applicants are welcome. This is a varied role; the successful candidate will manage a team of staff and a busy, challenging caseload. They will be highly organised, proactive, flexible, able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines, maintaining quality assurance and performance standards in the service provided by their team to the Council. The role involves leading, directing, developing and improving the service to operational teams, primarily in planning & highways and property, to ensure excellent service and value for money. This is an exciting role where you will work with the new Assistant Director of Legal Services on corporate activities and transformation plans. * Collaborate on corporate activities and transformation plans with the Assistant Director of Legal Services
Qualifications
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or equivalent)

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
