Position
Collections Assistant – Grade 10 – Fixed Term part‑time (27.25 hrs per week), Cambridge (Wimpole Hall) – £13.25 per hour.
Start date: 11 May 2024 (approx). End date: 31 January 2027. Closing date: 24 May 2026.
Summary
We’re looking for a history enthusiast with an eye for detail who is friendly and open with people. This role is about looking after a historic house and its collections of precious objects, furniture and works of art, and presenting them to visitors so that every person’s day is memorable and enjoyable.
Working Hours
27.25 hours per week: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays; 8:30 am – 4:15 pm Wednesdays. Approximately one weekend in three, with weekdays off in lieu.
Responsibilities
* Assist with day‑to‑day cleaning and care of the collections of objects, works of art, textiles and furniture.
* Monitor environmental conditions and signs of wear and tear.
* Keep accurate records of the collections.
* Provide support to the Collections and House volunteers.
* Talk to visitors about the collections and the role you play.
* Report to the Collections & House Manager and work closely with other Collections Assistants and Officers.
