About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to access learning, develop self-regulation skills, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to provide targeted interventions, one-to-one support, and small-group guidance. The role is rewarding, challenging, and ideal for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs
Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons and activities
Foster positive relationships and act as a key adult for identified students
Help implement behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (desirable but not essential)
A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
An understanding of trauma-informed practice (or a willingness to learn)
