Autism Senior Support Worker

Overview
This role supports a 19‑year‑old, non‑verbal autistic male in his own residential setting. The position involves working with an experienced team and includes access to facilities such as a swimming pool and extensive grounds for activities.
We are looking for a caring, fun, active and reliable candidate with a good sense of humour who wants to make a real difference to a young adult’s life.
Key Information
Hours: Flexible; average 40 hours per week for full time. One night shift per week (13 hours) is paid as a waking night. Part‑time hours are also available.
Pay: £25,000–£30,000 per year (pro‑rata).
Driver’s licence: Required (full UK licence).

Duties
* Medication prompting / administering
* Personal grooming, dressing / undressing, bathroom assistance
* Eating and drinking assistance
* Moving and handling
* Clinical tasks and other relevant duties as required
* Transportation and companionship
* Organise fun, appropriate activities and outings for 'out of school' hours, community trips, specialist provisions, and self‑help skill development
* Support during school hours and school holidays, including driving to and from day service, encouraging independence, and providing life enrichment
Candidate Qualities
* Can speak and read English to a reasonable standard
* Commit to high standards of health and safety
* Previous experience working with children or adults with autism (required)
* Full UK driving licence
* One year autism support experience (preferred)
Training and Development
Full training with client-provided support, extensive shadowing with experienced workers, and solo shift preparation. Additional training available, such as Positive Behaviour Support, Registered Behaviour Technician, Behaviour Analyst Certificate, or NVQ in Health and Social Care.
Requirements
Right to work in the UK and willingness to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Employment Details
The successful candidate will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer, not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self‑employed basis. If employed, a holiday pay contract will be issued.
