The Vacancy We are looking for a Senior NPI Manager to lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) team within our Currency division. Utilising new product introduction methodology, this role is responsible for ensuring the seamless transition of our products (banknote design and security features) from development into manufacturing. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of projects designed to increase product value by improving functionality and/or reducing product cost. You will achieve this through analysis of our processes and materials with an aim to drive a targeted cost reduction and continuous improvement programme across the company spend portfolio. As Senior NPI Manager, you will also work cross functionally across our departments (product management, design, materials development) to identify key strategic projects, lead relevant VAVE projects, ensure product optimisation for manufacturing and deliver new security feature integration. Please note that this role will include some national and international travel as well as engagement with colleagues and clients in different time zones so it will be necessary for the incumbent to be flexible to meet these requirements. Key Responsibilities Work with the product marketing teams to identify areas of opportunity in process, customer service and Return on Investment Manage a portfolio of projects aligned to strategic direction to deliver in excess of £1m savings YOY and introduction of new technology Develop a cross functional team of NPI and VAVE engineers into a high performing Product Engineering group enabling cross discipline projects to be delivered Work with the factories, procurement and product marketing teams to target opportunities to reduce the cost-to-sales through improved processes, better defined product specification and better value materials Works closely with design and product development to recommend modifications based on producibility, cost, and component technology factors. Works with colleagues in the Delivery function to understand site-based value engineering and continuous improvement activity, utilising test results and detailed analysis to impact on activity. Develop an industry leading NPI process utilising a risk based approach to launch new technologies with aggressive timelines Develops methods and programs to predict, track, and report costs and cost saving initiatives Deliver an effective trialling and testing protocol to ensure the delivery of both the annually agreed targets and on a continuous basis. Contract type: Permanent Working hours: Full Time - 36.5 hrs per week Base location: Basingstoke Viables Skills, Qualifications & Experience Educated to degree level (or accredited apprenticeship), or proven ability in a technical discipline such as currency manufacture, engineering, chemistry or professional management. A proven leader who can clearly demonstrate transformational drive and energy with a passion for change. Minimum Six Sigma Green Belt Proven knowledge of APQP and PPAP Previous experience in the delivery of ambitious Value Engineering programmes/ CI plans and new product launch. Strong Project Management experience, preferably within an engineering environment. Exceptional analytical skills with a focused and methodical approach to managing work. A strong team worker who focuses on the success of a team as a whole; with excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication and ability to negotiate effectively.
