This role is suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to join a well-established, forward-thinking consultancy with a strong reputation in engineering, sustainability and low-carbon design. The position offers technical variety, responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to complex projects across multiple sectors.
The Role
The successful candidate will join a privately owned Leeds based building services consultancy established in 2001. The role sits within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team comprising Building Services Engineers, Revit Technicians, Building Physicists and Document Controllers.
The position involves delivering mechanical building services design across a wide range of sectors, from feasibility through to detailed and fully coordinated design for installation, covering RIBA Stages 0-5. There is a strong emphasis on modern design tools, coordinated delivery and sustainability-led solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering coordinated designs in collaboration with other disciplines
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current industry regulations and design standards
Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices
Assisting with the development of design strategies
Quality assuring designs, drawings and documentation prior to issue
Liaising professionally with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams
Contributing to project delivery, including leading small mixed-discipline teams
Attending client, design team and project meetings
Undertaking feasibility studies and site surveys
Preparing load calculations and managing utility connection applications
Producing detailed mechanical services designs
Reviewing subcontractor design drawings and technical submissions
Undertaking site quality and legislative inspections and preparing associated reports
Applying industry design guides, British Standards and Building RegulationsWhat They're Looking For
Degree, HNC/D or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
Professional membership (desirable)
Proficiency with relevant industry design software
Strong organisational and time-management skills with a flexible approach
