Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic operational leader to join Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust as Directorate General Manager (DGM) for Theatres, Anaesthetics and Pain Management.
Responsible for strategic and operational management of cross-site portfolio encompassing Theatres, Anaesthetics, and Pain Management, driving modernisation, performance improvement, and financial sustainability.
Responsibilities
* Lead operational delivery across all theatres, anaesthetics, and pain management.
* Ensure services are safe, effective, and compliant with clinical governance and regulatory standards.
* Drive operational performance, ensuring delivery against activity, quality, and financial targets.
* Lead initiatives to improve theatre productivity, patient flow, and efficiency of elective and emergency surgical pathways.
* Support implementation of service improvement and modernisation programmes, embedding new ways of working and innovation.
* Manage budgets and resources effectively, delivering cost improvement and income generation schemes while maintaining financial balance.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clinical teams, senior leaders, and corporate functions.
* Provide visible and compassionate leadership to engage, motivate, and develop staff across all services.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Management qualification.
* Recent professional development in a relevant subject at postgraduate level.
* Evidence of achievement in strategic development of service.
Experience
* Significant experience as a Health Care Manager in the acute sector with responsibility for operational matters including staff management, significant budgetary responsibility and performance target management.
