Chassis Software Engineer - Driver Modes
At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Chassis Software Engineer – Driver Modes to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Engineer to join our Chassis Engineering team, focusing on Off-Road and Driver Mode functionalities. This role involves hands-on software integration, vehicle-level testing, and control system development for advanced chassis features. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless operation of longitudinal and lateral control systems across various driving modes, including off-road, sport, comfort, and terrain-specific configurations.
This is a dynamic, cross-functional role that blends on-vehicle debugging, software calibration, and Simulink-based control development, with a strong emphasis on requirements management and system-level validation.
Area of Responsibility
Software Integration & Vehicle Testing
* Conduct on-vehicle testing and debugging of chassis control systems across multiple driver modes
* Perform software flashing, calibration updates, and data logging using Vector tools (e.g., CANape, CANalyzer)
* Analyse vehicle behaviour and system performance across off-road and dynamic driving conditions
* Manage driving permits and coordinate test activities with proving grounds and development fleets
* Support fault diagnosis and resolution during integration and validation phases
* Write, manage, and trace system and software requirements for off-road and driver mode functionalities
* Develop and maintain Simulink models for chassis control algorithms (e.g., torque distribution, brake blending, traction control)
* Implement software bug fixes and support release readiness for production and prototype builds
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including vehicle dynamics, software architecture, and HMI development
* Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE)
Key Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
* Strong experience in chassis systems, vehicle dynamics, or embedded software integration
* Strong hands-on experience with vehicle testing, calibration, and debugging tools (e.g., Vector CANape, ETAS INCA)
* Proficiency in Simulink/Stateflow for control system modelling and validation
* Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay)
* Experience in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion)
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Valid driving license and willingness to travel for vehicle testing
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree or equivalent experience in control systems or vehicle dynamics
* Experience with off-road systems, terrain response, or adaptive chassis technologies
* Knowledge of safety-critical development standards (ISO 26262, ASPICE)
* Exposure to Agile or V-model development methodologies
* Familiarity with HIL/SIL platforms and automated test environments
