About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Advisor to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). In this role, you’ll support students from application through to progression, ensuring their individual needs are assessed, met, and regularly reviewed. Your ultimate goal will be to help learners become more independent, using strategies that empower them to succeed in college life.
What You’ll Do
* Assess and identify support needs for learners with SEND, managing a caseload from entry to progression.
* Organise transition visits and liaise with parents/carers to ensure smooth entry into college.
* Develop and implement support plans, including PEEPs, Medical Management Plans, Risk Assessments, and Exam Arrangements.
* Provide in-class support where appropriate and advise curriculum staff on statutory responsibilities.
* Attend EHCP review meetings and work closely with curriculum teams to monitor and adapt support.
* Promote independence and inclusion for all learners.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience supporting learners with SEND, ideally within Further Education.
* Knowledge of EHCP processes and a range of disabilities.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, staff, and external stakeholders.
* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) and willingness to undertake further training.
* A flexible, proactive approach and commitment to safeguarding and equality.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting learners with challenging behaviour or additional needs in Maths/English.
* Knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood agenda and FE funding streams.
* Additional qualifications such as HLTA, Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care, or specialist training (e.g., Makaton, BSL).
