Job Description:
Legal Business Services - Assistant Manager
KPMG’s Legal Operations and Legal Business Services (LBS) team supports clients in optimising their legal functions to achieve operational excellence.
There are three core service offerings within LBS: a powered contracting practice based on Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) technology, legal operating model transformation services, and Legal Managed Services. We are expanding our team due to successful client acquisition and service growth, making this an exciting opportunity for a candidate to make a significant impact and shape the role.
We seek talented Assistant Managers to help grow the legal operating model transformation practice within LBS, manage and develop external client relationships, and build out our offerings.
The candidate will gain experience across the entire lifecycle of transformation projects and in developing new services for KPMG, working closely with global LBS teams and other KPMG services such as CIOA and People in Change.
The wider LBS team:
* Focuses on legal technology and automation; the candidate will work across diverse client bases, from mid-market to FTSE-listed companies, public sector, financial services, and FMCG.
* Provides expertise and industry insights on legal transformation and managed services to clients.
* Supports development of go-to-market strategies, collateral, methodologies, and alliance partnerships.
* Leads workstreams within complex, multi-national engagements involving multidisciplinary teams.
* Owns and directs micro service offerings, actively shaping their focus and development.
* Coordinates internal services and teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Leadership & Management:
This role supports the growth of the LBS practice, contributing to service development, methodology refinement, and team culture. The candidate will also engage in business development, marketing, and collateral creation to support the wider LBS business in the UK and globally.
The candidate should have a proven track record in stakeholder engagement across various seniorities, functions, and industries, managing internal and external stakeholders independently during ongoing engagements and strategic initiatives.
Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance: The role involves supporting the growth of LBS and KPMG Law, ensuring compliance with risk and quality standards, and delivering high-quality work within scope, budget, and timeline.
Key experience includes:
* Managing workstreams or programs independently, delivering quality results on time and budget.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Facilitating stakeholder workshops to achieve outcomes.
* Conducting assessments, gap analyses, and roadmaps.
* Process mapping expertise.
* Understanding legal, risk, and compliance issues.
* Knowledge of digitisation drivers, risks, and opportunities in back-office functions.
* Supporting change management projects.
* Business development experience, including client meetings, proposals, and marketing materials.
Technical Role Requirements:
* Experience with in-house legal functions is desirable but not essential.
* Project management qualification is a plus.
* Strong communication and persuasive writing skills.
* Engagement and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
* Consulting expertise in engaging with legal teams and coaching.
* Experience managing small engagement teams and ensuring top-quality deliverables.
