One Ashford Hospital, part of Phoenix Hospital Group, based in Ashford, Kent, is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join our friendly team on a fixed-term working arrangement.
Reporting to the Clinical Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant will assist in the efficient economical running of the pharmacy service, including maintaining defined stock levels and handling stock control.
Key Responsibilities
* The maintenance of defined stock levels of pharmaceutical products in wards and departments, including Pharmacy.
* Ordering and receiving drugs from suppliers to ensure pharmacy stock is available for TTA, Outpatient and stock supply.
* Assisting the Pharmacy Technician in labelling and dispensing items when needed.
* Assisting with the computerised and physical distribution of pharmaceutical products to all clients and departments, ensuring documentation is completed appropriately.
* Providing a professional and courteous service to patients and hospital staff attending the dispensary.
* Assisting with the organisation and filing of appropriate documentation.
* Supporting the ward/departmental topping up system to ensure pharmaceutical products are available for use by relevant health care personnel in a timely manner.
* Ensuring stock is received, stored and used for replenishment as appropriate.
* Being involved in stock rotation, cycle counts and routine expiry date checks within Pharmacy and all departments of the hospital.
* Helping to organise the fluid store and ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
* Assisting in the disposal of medications where necessary according to hospital policy.
* Assisting the Pharmacy Technician with preparation and maintenance of the contents of all resuscitation and special emergency boxes.
* Assisting with labelling and dispensing medication under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technician and Clinical Pharmacist.
Qualifications and Experience
* General education qualifications including GCSE (A-C) Maths, English & Science or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or working toward).
* Previous stock control experience.
* Experience in dealing with the public.
Contract Details
Fixed-term contract of 12 months. Willing to re‑evaluate at the end of the term.
