As Lead Nurse, you will drive improvements across four key pillars—quality, patient experience, financial efficiency, and leadership development—while acting as a role model for excellence in paediatric nursing and compassionate, child‐centred care.**How you’ll help us make health happen*** Provide strong, visible clinical leadership across CYP inpatient and outpatient services, acting as a role model for paediatric nursing excellence.* Ensure care standards are defined, delivered, and monitored in line with NMC, CQC, safeguarding, and paediatric professional frameworks.* Lead and coordinate high‐quality clinical governance, including paediatric audits, safety alerts, compliance monitoring, and implementation of national guidance (e.g., NICE, NPSA).* Offer professional oversight and ensure robust assurance processes for CYP services across all Cromwell and partner outpatient locations.* Collaborate with clinical governance, risk teams, consultants, and multi‐disciplinary professionals to strengthen paediatric pathways and service improvements.* Act as a change agent, promoting evidence‐based practice, innovation, and continuous improvement in CYP care delivery.* Provide expert clinical advice on the care and treatment of children and young people to nursing, medical, and AHP teams.* Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of paediatric audits, benchmarking, and quality initiatives.* Mentor, coach, and develop senior nurses, ensuring strong succession planning and a skilled, competent paediatric workforce.* Ensure safe staffing, effective resource management, and delivery of efficient, high‐quality paediatric services.* Promote a culture of learning, research, and reflective practice within CYP teams.* Build positive working relationships with consultants, supporting safe practice, feedback mechanisms, and collaborative service development.* Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies and lead paediatric safeguarding training engagement.**Key Skills / Qualifications****Essential*** Active NMC registration as a Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child).* Teaching/assessing qualification.* Level 6–7 leadership or management qualification, or equivalent experience.* Substantial clinical experience within an acute paediatric setting.* Demonstrated experience in clinical and operational management of CYP services.* Strong working knowledge of NMC codes, paediatric safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, CQC standards, and clinical governance.* Skilled in leading change, clinical audit, and service improvement.* Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills.* Experience in resource and budget management.* Evidence of continuous professional development.**Desirable*** Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant paediatric specialty.* Dual NMC registration (Adult + Children’s Nurse).* Experience leading CYP services in the independent sector.* Experience in paediatric research or service development.**Benefits**Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people.
