A growing, established Interior Design studio is looking for an Associate level designer.
This large, open-plan studio is working on an increasing number of new projects in luxury, high-end hospitality abroad. Having secured several new projects, they are seeking an Associate to join their friendly team. The ideal candidate will have high-level hotel design or large-scale experience. This role will be client-facing, with a strong emphasis on team collaboration to produce innovative, cutting-edge designs.
You will work both in the UK and internationally, managing a small team, overseeing all design stages, client interactions, FF&E, and project management alongside the FF&E team.
Responsibilities include:
* Act as the creative lead designer on hospitality projects, overseeing output with the creative director from concept to completion
* Lead and inspire junior team members, problem-solve, and mentor
* Ensure design output meets the brief and is delivered within budget
* Create concepts, develop design schemes, technical packs, specifications, and tender documents, incorporating your own design ideas
* Lead site meetings and internal studio meetings with clients, suppliers, and contractors, mentoring others in the process
* Manage project budgets, estimates, and reconciliations
* Train team members in creativity, project leadership, and client handling
Ideal candidate attributes:
* An impressive portfolio in hospitality design, both creative and technical
* Experience in a client-facing senior role within established, stylish design agencies
* Strong understanding of project setup, procedures, processes, schedules, budgets, and contracts
* Proven success managing large-scale, stylish hospitality projects
* Solid construction and onsite experience
* Creative sourcing and specification of products, lighting, furniture, and finishes (FF&E)
* Negotiation skills with suppliers to secure favorable terms
* Experience working with fabricators and suppliers to design and procure bespoke products
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
* Ability to prioritize and deliver within budgets and deadlines
* Strong technical skills with attention to detail
