The Role As a Private Client Solicitor, you will: Advise high-net-worth clients on estate planning, wills, trusts, and tax-efficient wealth structures Manage estate administration from probate through to final distribution, ensuring compliance with all legal and tax requirements Draft complex legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and tax planning structures Provide strategic guidance on inheritance tax planning, lifetime gifts, and succession planning Conduct client meetings with professionalism and discretion, often handling sensitive family matters Liaise with accountants, tax advisers, and financial planners to deliver holistic client solutions Manage a portfolio of clients, building long-term relationships and repeat business Contribute to team development by mentoring junior staff and sharing expertise About You Essential Requirements: 6–7 years' Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in private client law, OR 3–4 years' PQE with substantial pre-qualification experience in private client matters (e.g., trainee/paralegal roles) Strong technical knowledge of wills, trusts, estate administration, and inheritance tax planning Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive family and financial matters Proficiency with legal case management systems, Microsoft Office, and conveyancing software Current practising certificate in good standing Desirable Skills: Experience with Lasting Powers of Attorney and deputyship matters Knowledge of trust administration and tax planning strategies Membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) or commitment to obtaining it Track record of positive client feedback and business development Interest in continuing professional development within private client law What We Offer Our client provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional growth and personal wellbeing: Competitive salary : £55,000–£75,000 (depending on experience and PQE level) Hybrid working : 3 days in office (Berkhamsted), 2 days remote – flexibility to balance client meetings with focused work Generous annual leave : 25 days plus bank holidays Pension scheme : Employer contribution (up to 5%) Professional development : CPD training budget, support for STEP membership, specialist private client training Health and wellbeing : Private health insurance, employee assistance programme (EAP), gym membership discount Flexible benefits : Childcare vouchers, cycle-to-work scheme, season ticket loans Career progression : Clear pathway to senior associate and partnership opportunities Supportive culture : Collaborative team environment with genuine work-life balance and manageable caseloads Location & Working Arrangements Based in Hertfordshire with a modern, professional office environment.
