About the role
We are recruiting Band 6 Bed Managers for our Acute Care Coordination Centre (ACCC) based at Springfield Hospital. This full‑time post is ideal for an experienced Band 5 or Band 6 clinician seeking a new challenge.
Key responsibilities
* Manage bed capacity and demand across the three hospital sites.
* Ensure patient flow through acute wards and handle operational issues outside of normal hours that could affect service safety and efficiency.
* Support the transition to a fully computerised system that will enable future demand prediction.
* Actively contribute to service development and improvement.
* Provide accurate information for daily discharge, pathway and other capacity and breach meetings.
* Maintain and update the Bed Waiting List to reflect referrals, bed status, sources, location and breach times.
* Escalate lack of capacity and breaches to support timely access to care in line with the Clinical Prioritisation Framework.
* Follow the London Compact for Mental Health Guidance.
Stakeholder engagement
* SWLSTG In‑patient MDTs (Consultants, Ward staff and pharmacists) and other inpatient bed providers
* Discharge Coordinators
* SWLSTG community clinical teams and Care Coordinators, Home Treatment, Psychiatric Liaison, CMHT/RST, Early Intervention, Older adults and Specialist Services (Complex needs, rehab, forensic)
* Acute Trusts Site Managers, CSU Surge colleagues, other NHS Trusts
* AMHPs, Coral Crisis Hub, Police, Liaison and Diversion Practitioners
* Service Users, Carers, friends and family
* Heads of Nursing & Quality, Heads of Service Delivery, Matrons and Clinical Service Leads
* Primary Care clinicians
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should be a qualified nurse or equivalent clinician with experience in acute care bed management.
