Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electromagnetic Design Engineer with electric propulsion experience to join our innovative team. This role involves designing, developing, prototyping, and testing high-power electrical machines and drive systems for future aircraft propulsion, contributing to greener aviation.
Note: You will be required to spend at least 3 days a week in the office collaborating with the team.
Job Responsibilities
* Own electromagnetic design and analysis of electric machines from requirements to testing and verification.
* Provide engineering analysis and first-principles calculations to support your designs and validate peers’ results.
* Lead the selection of electrical machine types, topologies, and sizing to meet high-level requirements.
* Support technical discussions with customers during RFI and program development phases.
* Lead and support hands-on development activities of electromagnetic materials and novel designs.
* Liaise with suppliers and partners for electric propulsion system development.
* Lead capability development in electromagnetic simulation and testing verification processes.
* Identify opportunities for innovation, IP development, publications, and conferences.
* Generate technical reports and presentations for reviews and TRL gates.
* Plan technical work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
What you'll bring
To succeed, you should have:
* Experience in electromagnetic design of electric machines.
* Proficiency with electromagnetic and thermal modelling tools (e.g., Comsol, Simcenter, ANSYS Maxwell, MotorCAD).
* Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles and first-principles calculations.
* Knowledge of motor control and power electronics principles.
* Materials knowledge relevant to electric machine design.
* Experience with FMEAs and safety-critical engineering practices.
* Design experience with PMSM, IM, SynR, or similar high-performance topologies.
* Experience in electromagnetic components for cryogenic environments (highly desirable).
* Understanding of mechanical working principles of electric machines.
* Experience in vehicle electrification.
* Familiarity with system engineering standards for complex systems.
* Experience in vibration, fault tolerance, and NVH analysis for electric machines.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, are essential.
