Post CCT Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Anaesthesia
Applicationsare invited for a clinical fellow post, at the Leeds Childrens Hospital,which is part of Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. This post will commenceas soon as possible, for a period of 12 months. The post will providecomprehensive training in all aspects and subspecialities of paediatricanaesthesia. Leeds Childrens Hospital provides secondary care for thepopulation of Leeds and regional referral centre for all of Yorkshire andHumber. Supra regional services include cardiac surgery, hepatobiliaryservices including liver transplantation, plastic reconstructive surgery,robotic surgery, major Oncology surgery, radiotherapy, and an integrated painservice.
Thesuccessful candidate will join an enthusiastic and dynamic paediatricanaesthetic team consisting of 30 paediatric anaesthetists. As this post is funded by the NHS, prioritywill be given to candidates who, after completing this post, could commence aconsultant post in tertiary Paediatric anaesthesia in the UK.
Candidatesmust be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice at time ofapplication.

Main duties of the job
1.To work with paediatric anaesthetic colleagues in the provision of acomprehensive paediatric anaesthetic service in the Leeds Childrens Hospitals.
2.To develop or consolidate expertise in paediatric anaesthesia and fulfil allrequirements for advanced training in paediatric anaesthesia.
3.To maintain and contribute to the teaching and research activities, alreadyestablished within the Trust.
4.To support service plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes inclinical practice and new technologies available.
5.To participate in and progress clinical governance
6.The post is for one year and can be tailored to previous experience.Research/QI/Audits and congenital cardiac education in the form of monthly.CCAN formal teaching and involvement in departmental/PICU SIM training.
Thispost will not have an out of hours banding supplement.
Thepost will have protected time for clinical audit, research, and teaching. Thetrainee will be expected and encouraged to take part in these activities aspart of their one-year training post. LTHTs anaesthetic department has anactive academic department that is attached to the University.
Traineeswill be required to attend regular monthly M&M meetings and bi-monthlypaediatric Journal club
About us
Leedshas one of the largest Childrens Hospitals in the country, delivering surgicalprocedures to over 12,000 children per year, including approximately 300neonates. The trust delivers around 500 congenital cardiac operations per year.Other specialist paediatric services in Leeds include laparoscopic and roboticsurgery, airway surgery, liver and renal transplant, neurosurgery, and majorplastic reconstructive surgery. The trust is also a paediatric major traumacentre with a 16 bed PICU, a 6 bed HDU and a tertiary NICU.

LeedsTeaching Hospitals employs over 149 Consultant Anaesthetists, each with theirown subspecialty interest. The Department of Anaesthesia is based across twosites at St James Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary.
TheChildrens Hospital is located within the Leeds General Infirmary. There are 30Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetists and 10 PICU Consultants.

OBJECTIVESOF THE POST

Access to paper based aswell as electronic publications is available in the hospital library and withinthe anaesthetic department. The involvement of trainees in research isencouraged and supervision is provided. Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration at time of interview
* Basic Medical Qualificatio at
* FRCA (or equivalent)
* ST7+
* CCT or equivalent in Anaesthesia
* 6 months from CCT at application
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
* Has completed a recognised training programme (or equivalent) in anaesthesia and has completed advanced training (or equivalent) in Paediatric Anaesthesia.

Clinical Experience and Career Progression
* Must be able to demonstrate a good level of clinical experience and competence in anaesthesia.
