Preamble Terms of Reference (ToRs) provide a framework to assist in achieving objectives and clarifying accountability. Approved ToRs are a major contribution towards improved management. Ultimately, it is up to the individual leader to deliver effective and efficient outputs using leadership, professional ability, and management skills. ToRs should not be seen as prescriptive and post holders are expected to exercise initiative and be innovative, which may require operating outside their ToR. In these circumstances, post holders are not to be constrained by their ToRs in achieving success but must ensure that their Line Manager and Warrant Officer are kept informed. AWTI16 will be a Petty Officer Above Water Warfare Tactical (AWT) having trained and served at sea having operated and managed Command and Tactical Data Systems at the Leading Hand/Petty Officer level. Primary Purpose The primary purpose of AWTI16 is to: To deliver AWT training to all required Phase 2 and career courses ( DNA, CMS, TACTICOS and all future Command Systems and auxiliary equipment) ensuring that Training Objectives (TOs) set by NCHQ are achieved. Actively role model collaborative behaviours, supporting the development of culture of trust, openness, and ownership within AWTTE. Deliver safe and high-quality training in line with the SOTT, and schedule for your area contributing to safety reporting. DTC Supplementary TORs Contribute to Training Design, and modernisation activity (TDC, TDR and CCF) in the team as a delivery SME. Implement quality improvement for course(s) in line with SAR, QIP, CEBs, and audit findings, identifying opportunities to improve training. Complete initial and continuous professional development aligned to feedback from observations. Temporary Divisional Senior Rate for all students on course, ensuring liaison with and other Training organisations. Secondary Purpose To ensure associated NCHQ standards are maintained and reflect current equipment and procedural techniques. Organisation and Accountability AWTI16 operates as part of the TMG WTG Training organisation and is line managed by AWT CPO1 and accountable to OIC AWT TE. Authority AWTI16 has the authority to liaise with appropriate Divisional Officers, Course Managers and discipline staff concerning student progress, discipline and welfare matters. Primary Tasks AWTI16 is responsible for: Conducting duties and responsibilities of a Defence Trainer within the WTG, in line with WTG training orders, in accordance with FTS and RPS.Attending Professional Development Training for now and future Command Systems. Briefing AWT CPO 1 and 2 on student progress and challenges. Creating and publishing student end of course appraisal reports Secondary Tasks AWTI16 secondary responsibilities are to: Act as Defence Training Supervisor ( DTS ) to ensure Defence Training guidelines are adhered to and mentor to Defence Trainers supporting their personal development towards Practitioner status. Act as Divisional Senior Rate to Junior Rates as directed and First Reporting Officer to section Able Rates as directed.Carry out duty Lock up and security rounds of the AWT TE and CWD DSR. Carry out secondary roles as reasonably directed by AWT CPO2. Note : The AWTI16 position held by a Petty Officer Warfare Specialist (AWT) and all the characteristics and qualities of a Warfare Senior Rate are assumed and expected.
