An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer – Dispenser, to join the dedicated team delivering dispensing and ward services from the Pharmacy department.
You will be based on rotation in the dispensary at The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) participating in the dispensing services under the management of the Dispensary Manager and in one of our clinical teams working on the wards under the supervision of pharmacy ward leads.
Main duties of the job
You will be dispensing a wide variety of prescription types including controlled drugs, prescription only medicines and unlicensed drugs for the inpatients of JCUH and the community hospitals.
You will be expected to have experience of dispensing to L2 pharmacy services standard, have knowledge of a broad range of drugs and be familiar with pharmacy law and professional practice from either hospital or community setting.
Candidates are eligible to apply if they are working towards the L2 dispensing certificate.
The successful candidate will work full time hours 08:30-17:00 Monday – Friday. They will also be included in dispensary and extended/out-of-hours rotas, which are currently:
* Weekend working once every 5 weeks (09:00-17:00) Saturday and Sunday, reimbursed with a full weekday off the following week
* Late night working once every 2 weeks (09:00-17:30) instead of 08:30-17:00
* Contribution to bank holiday working rota
The busy pharmacy dept. at JCUH has a team of over 200 staff including clinical pharmacists, technicians and support staff providing medicines management, dispensing, and logistic services to the general and specialist areas of the JCUH site and a number of community hospitals. The pharmacy department provides a stimulating, friendly and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their career.

Qualifications
* L2 Pharmacy Services including dispensing or equivalent certificate. Or working towards
* GCSE level – English & Maths A-C/4-9 or Level 2 Maths and English
Knowledge
* Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal & written.
* Proven experience of Standard Operating procedures.
* Broad pharmacy product knowledge
* Understanding of principles of dispensing

* Recent record of accurate dispensing in hospital / community pharmacies
