An inclusive, well-resourced secondary school in Huddersfield is looking for an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to start in September 2025. This leadership role is ideal for a dedicated professional who wishes to drive forward the school’s SEND strategy and champion inclusion.
Role Responsibilities:

Lead the SEND department, managing specialist staff and support programmes

Develop and monitor EHCPs and ensure legal compliance with SEND regulations
*
Work closely with teachers to embed inclusive practices and differentiated learning
*
Liaise with families, external agencies, and local authority professionals
*
Contribute to whole-school policy development and staff training on SEND issues
Person Specification:
*
Qualified Teacher Status plus National SENCO Award or equivalent
*
Proven leadership experience in SEND within a secondary setting
*
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding protocols
*
Empathetic and resilient, with excellent organisational and communication skills
