Overview
We are offering an excellent opportunity to join a high-precision CNC manufacturing business that specialises in producing complex machined components for demanding sectors including aerospace, defence, motorsport, and robotics.
Operating from a clean, modern engineering facility, this role centres on the mechanical inspection of tight-tolerance components manufactured using advanced CNC machining processes. You will play a critical role in ensuring all parts meet exacting customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical inspection of precision machined parts and components
Conduct manual and visual inspections using precision measuring equipment
Operate CMM equipment and accurately interpret inspection data
Verify CMM results through manual inspection where required
Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation
Produce Certificates of Conformity and associated quality documentation
Maintain full component traceability and effective document control
Liaise with production and management teams to resolve quality issues
Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
Strong attention to detail with a methodical and structured approach
Proven experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components
Confident interpreting and working from complex engineering drawings
Well organised, dependable, and able to prioritise workload effectively
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability
Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable Experience
Experience operating CMM systems (Aberlink, Vicivision preferred)
Familiarity with Visual FAIR
Experience working to AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards
Strong understanding of GD&T principles
Background within a subcontract precision machining environment
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality inspection role
