About the Role:

The Technical Accounting Specialist will investigate complex cash and debt queries that are unresolved due to technical accounting issues. They will also ensure that any amendments to risks written by the Underwriting teams are accurately processed onto our in-house system (GENIUS) in a timely manner to facilitate cash and debt resolution. The ability to effectively communicate with many teams across LSM and prioritise work according to various system close dates, SLAs and KPIs is also a fundamental attribute required to fulfil the role. You will be part of a wider team of over 60 people supporting over underwriters across approximately 30 lines of business.

About the Department & Team:

The Technical Accounting Team support cash and debt activities across all Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe (LMIE) with focus being on the more technical and complex cases. The team have been intentionally set up outside of the underwriting space and form the link between Credit Control and Business Support.

We have an offshore team in India who work as an extension of our team, providing the same support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical analysis of complex risks using slips, endorsements, reports and/or other relevant documentation.

2. Thoroughly research policies to identify and correct booking errors or needed adjustments.

3. Review multiple data sets daily to assess cash and debt position across multiple lines of business.

4. Collaborate regularly with underwriting teams and occasionally Underwriters to better understand Policies.

5. Maintain a good working relationship with our offshore team and provide support where required.

6. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to meet team quality and ensure targets within team and wider department are met.

7. Use multiple systems/market platforms daily to resolve cash and debt issues e.g. IMR, Xchanging, E-accounting, PPL to name a few.

8. Liaise with brokers to manage accounts as required.

9. Work with a continuous improvement mindset and raise any possibilities for improvement with management.

10. Assist team members with administrative or ad-hoc tasks/projects to ensure cash clearance targets are achieved.

11. Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.

12. Skills and Experience:

13. Some insurance experience within the London/Lloyd’s Market (preferred but not essential).

14. Proficient in use of MS Office, in particular Excel.

15. Good verbal and written communication skills.

16. Comfortable working with numbers and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.

17. Good organisational and time management skills.

18. Experience of working to varying and tight deadlines.

19. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

20. Proactive and can take initiative unprompted.

21. Can adapt to change as processes and systems improve.

22. Committed to continuous learning and self-development.
