GSL Education is looking for energetic and adaptable individuals with a sports or fitness background to join secondary schools across Sheffield. This role is perfect for anyone who wants to bring their active experience into schools, support lessons, and inspire students in both learning and physical activities. About the Role: This is not a traditional sports coach role every day — schools value staff who can support teachers, supervise lessons, and assist students in a learning environment, particularly in schools with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Learning (SEL) development. You may also help with PE lessons, practical activities, or extra-curricular sports sessions when needed. Key Responsibilities: Support teachers in delivering lessons and classroom activities Supervise students as a cover supervisor or learning support assistant Use your sports and fitness skills to engage students in practical or active tasks Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment Provide feedback to teachers on student engagement and progress Requirements: Previous experience in sports coaching, fitness, or an active role Confidence working with groups of students in classroom or activity settings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliable, professional, and adaptable to different school environments Interest in supporting students’ personal development alongside learning This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a sports or fitness background to gain valuable school experience while making a real difference in students’ lives.
