Accounts Assistant
Holmes and Hills is a large and growing regional law firm based in East Anglia, with seven offices across Essex and Suffolk, including the 14,000 sq ft A12 Commercial Hub at J25 of the A12. Our team of 200 legal professionals works in partnership with clients to deliver proactive legal services through personal relationships. We act as trusted advisors to individuals, businesses, and local authorities, taking the time to understand clients' objectives and providing practical advice in a personal and accessible manner.
The Role
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will provide on-the-job training, enabling you to handle high-volume accounting duties and deliver high-quality, timely services to our fee-earning teams and clients. You will perform various accounting tasks in compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and Code of Conduct.
This role is ideal for someone interested in starting a career in accounts. Some prior accounts knowledge or experience is advantageous but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing office bank transactions, including coding invoices, posting, and filing invoices.
* Handling card payments and processing all card payment postings.
* Posting GEVUs and paying through suppliers for Dye & Durham / Index / PALI / Xpress Legal Searches.
* Posting GEVUs and paying for Counsel's Fees.
* Paying PI Onecall Invoices.
* Running monthly interest scans (Part 1).
* Completing month-end spreadsheets.
* Assisting with Barclaycard statement transaction postings and training others as needed.
* Supporting end-of-day BACS / FPN runs.
* Covering purchase ledger and stationery orders as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Proficiency in computer use, especially MS Excel.
* Preferably working towards an AAT qualification.
Skills and Attributes:
* High attention to detail.
* Reliability and punctuality.
* Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Accuracy in work and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
* Awareness of deadlines and timescales.
* IT literacy, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
