Position
Citrus Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with a leading automotive company, recruiting for a Project Engineer to be based near Coleshill.
The Project Engineer will be working for a leading specialist in precision engineering solutions, working with some of the most respected names in the automotive and manufacturing industries. Due to continued growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded engineer who enjoys bridging the gap between design, manufacturing, and customer expectations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring all engineering deliverables meet quality standards, manufacturability requirements, and customer needs.
If you have a background in mechanical or automotive engineering and enjoy problem-solving, collaborating across teams, and seeing projects through from concept to production, this role offers the perfect mix of technical challenge and variety
Responsibilities
Responsibilities & day to day duties
* As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for:
* Participate in project kick-off meetings with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Review and validate CAD models and engineering drawings for feasibility and manufacturability, reporting and escalating any issues with the drawings.
* Conduct feasibility and design reviews in collaboration with Quality, Operations, and Project Management.
* Drive technical actions to support new product introductions and continuous improvement.
* Play a key role in the “OK to Ship” approval process.
* Liaise directly with customers and suppliers to resolve technical queries and recommend design improvements.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring all designs meet required industry and quality standards.
Skills & experience required
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
* Strong understanding of CAD design, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, sheet metal, castings, and extrusions.
* Experience applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
* Excellent communication skills with experience working in cross-functional teams.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
* Experience within automotive or precision manufacturing environments .
* Ideal for candidates who enjoy the technical challenge of translating design intent into manufacturable reality.
