Role: Environmental Test Engineer
Location: Chatham – On-site
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Environmental Test Engineer needed to join our client, an established electronics engineering firm based in the Chatham area in Kent.
Working in the Test Centre which includes a comprehensive EMC test lab you will have the opportunity to be part of a fully equipped 'one-stop' qualification department with a large and varied customer base, from military products to commercial airliner components.
Please note this role would require candidates to obtain SC Clearance.
What the role of the Environmental Test Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Environmental Test Engineer will include:
* Responsibility for product qualification work packages
* Compiling technical test procedures in line with standards and customer requirements
* Monitoring and reporting product performance whilst undertaking environmental, EMC, lightning and nuclear hardening tests to military and civil standards
* Opportunity to support specific off-site testing across the UK and EU
* Writing technical test reports and providing technical support to our customers
* Generation of estimates in support of new business
* Supervision of junior personnel
What experience you need to be the successful Environmental Test Engineer:
* A wide range of experience in the application of environmental and EMC standards – particularly MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160, DEF-STAN
* Extensive knowledge and experience with a wide range test environments including; vibration, shock, temperature, altitude, humidity, acceleration, explosive atmosphere, electromagnetic compatibility and lightning
* Experience in the generation of technical test procedures and reports
Desirable:
* Previous responsibility for qualification work packages
* Experience doing a similar role in a military environment would be highly advantageous
* EMC design knowledge
