Hays Education has recently seen an increased need for local SEMH Learning Support Assistants in Schools across Northamptonshire for both day-to-day and long-term supply roles.
At Hays, we work with numerous schools across Northamptonshire, covering areas including Northampton, Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Rushden, Daventry, Towcester, Brackley, and surrounding areas. This allows you, as a Teaching Assistant working through Hays, to have local work in your preferred area, focusing only on schools you wish to work in.
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Specialist Primary School in Northampton for children aged 4-11 with various needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties, who have struggled to settle into mainstream settings. The school is dedicated to supporting its students in developing emotional regulation skills and improving their readiness to learn. It currently has 5 classes with varying needs, each with approximately 7 children. The school offers excellent facilities, including an outdoor play area and group lunches with staff to foster interaction.
Your new role
We are seeking full-time SEMH Learning Support Assistants to join the team as soon as possible, on a temporary to permanent basis. We want exceptional individuals who thrive in challenging environments to work with the school's remarkable pupils.
Ideal candidates will be passionate about supporting social, life, and independence skills and eager to make a positive difference in young people's lives. You will be expected to make a meaningful impact on children with diverse care needs, life experiences, and personalities, making each day varied and engaging. Building trusting relationships and motivating students through individual attention, reassurance, and support with daily tasks will be key.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs and/or challenging behaviour.
