Position Summary
Lead International Trade Compliance across UK/EU operations, ensuring adherence to export controls, sanctions, and customs requirements, including EU level regulations, national German and French controls, UK and IOM requirements, and extraterritorial US ITAR/EAR rules. Serve as the regional subject matter expert, embedding effective controls, supporting business operations, and managing trade compliance risk, with a direct management of a trade compliance Analyst in the UK and indirect oversight over designated trade compliance leads at the EU sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Act as the UK/EU subject matter expert and escalation authority for complex and high-risk trade compliance matters.
• Act as the primary trade compliance contact for UK/IOM, with functional responsibility across France and Germany.
• Own and deliver day-to-day trade compliance activities while defining and embedding scalable processes and controls across UK/EU sites.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across Legal, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure trade compliance is integrated into business processes and decision making.
• Drive alignment of trade compliance practices across sites, balancing regulatory requirements with operational practicality and varying levels of site capability.
• Maintain and update Trade Compliance policies, procedures and resources.
• Ensure compliance with UK export controls, EU regulations (including German and French national controls), and extraterritorial US ITAR/EAR requirements.
• Own and execute export licensing activities for UK/IOM (OGEL, SIEL, F680, ITAR, EAR), while providing oversight and support for licensing in Germany and France.
• Own export control classification for goods, technology and software, and maintain robust classification processes across supported sites.
• Oversee cross-border shipments, transfers and access to controlled technology, ensuring compliant movement and handling
• Provide expert guidance on sanctions, embargoes and trade restrictions, supporting business decision-making.
• Lead tariff classification and customs compliance for UK/IOM, providing guidance and operational support to EU sites on valuation, origin and simplified procedures.
• Oversee courier approvals, logistics processes, customs spend reviews and continuous improvement initiatives (for UK/IOM sites).
• Identify, assess and mitigate trade compliance risks, supporting investigations, corrective actions and voluntary disclosures where required.
• Conduct monitoring activities, internal compliance checks and support internal/external audits, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
• Conduct third-party screening and approvals in line with site requirements.
• Manage business travel and visitor approval processes in line with UK and US regulatory requirements.
• Deliver training, guidance and day-to-day support to engineering, operations, supply chain and commercial teams.
• Manage and develop the UK Import/Export Administrator and provide operational cover where required.

• Knowledge of Trade Compliance laws, regulations and ISO requirements with demonstrable experience and knowledge of export and customs compliance
• Experience in a similar role with a medium/ large-scale Defence/Aerospace business
• Proactive, results focused and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• A ‘hands-on, can-do approach’, coupled with excellent attention to detail, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Broad understanding of business processes and methods (e.g. Supplier/ Manufacturing/ Quality means and methods, capabilities and constraints)
• Excellent communication and written skills; with ability to influence and resolve conflict as required
• Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of management/ non-management including within the company, external customer organisations and authorities
• Previous experience in design and delivery of staff training is desirable
• Excellent IT and system skills – including MS Office, SharePoint, database and ERP systems.
Position Details
• Reports to the Triumph Group Senior Manager of International Trade Compliance with matrix to UK Managing Director.
• Member of Group/COE structure with regional responsibility across UK/EU sites.
• Hybrid role with primary UK base and EU site engagement.
• 37 Hours Per Week, Full time onsite at Triumph’s UK – Deeside location.
• Travel required within UK, IOM and EU as required.
