Buckingham Futures are currently seeking anexperienced Environmental Health Officerto join a local authority based in the West Midlands. This is a hybrid position, offering flexible working arrangements alongside a varied and meaningful workload.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a broad range of regulatory services, including food safety, private sector housing, health and safety, pollution control, and environmental protection. The role involves investigating complaints, conducting inspections, enforcing statutory regulations, and preparing legal documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct inspections and investigations across food safety, housing standards, health & safety, pollution control, and statutory nuisances.
* Enforce relevant legislation and initiate legal proceedings when necessary.
* Prepare reports, witness statements, and evidence for legal action.
* Provide clear and practical advice to landlords, businesses, and members of the public.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support strategic service delivery.
* Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and statutory returns.
Candidate Requirements:
* Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification
* EHRB or CIEH registration (or equivalent recognised accreditation)
* Proven experience across one or more core regulatory areas
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement protocols
* Excellent communication, reporting, and case management skills
* Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment
