Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity with a local government team that values your skills and development? Swansea Council's Highways and Transportation Department is seeking a dedicated, highly motivated and enthusiastic officer to provide essential Gazetteer management.

Accurate Street and Address data powers and underpins everything from blue light emergency response to roadworks coordination. As our Gazetteer & Highways Asset Support Officer, you'll help maintain Swansea Council's Local Street and Local Land & Property Gazetteers (LSG/LLPG), contribute to our GIS data mapping, and capture highways asset data that underpins safe, well run services across the city and communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities: -
* Maintain and improve the Council's LSG and LLPG systems in line with legislation and national standards (including GeoPlace Data Entry Conventions), ensuring accurate, timely submissions of high data quality.
* Resolving address anomalies - addressing inconsistencies or errors in address data. Working closely with internal departments and external partners like the Royal Mail.
* Digitise highways developments and record road agreements (Highways Act Sections 38/228/278) in the corporate GIS.
* Capture and validate highways asset data using desktop tools and on site checks; prepare and supply GIS maps to support operational decision making.
* Promote corporate use of the LSG/LLPG across the Council, provide advice to internal teams, and support NUAR administration.
About you
* A good general level of education; confident with numbers, words and everyday ICT. You communicate clearly with colleagues and customers and are comfortable learning new digital tools.
* Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools; able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and sound decision making.
* Understanding (or the ability to quickly develop understanding) of LSG/LLPG functions, standards and the statutory contexts they support (e.g., planning, street works coordination).
* Commitment to handling information appropriately and in line with data protection requirements.
