Pay rate: £51,935.00 per year PAYE
Contract Type: Permanent Role
Working Arrangement: The team are flexible with working and are virtual first but there will be a requirement to be in an office.
Full clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior Management Accountant to provide the best financial information and support for the group. The team are flexible with working and are virtual first but there will be a requirement to be in an office.
Key Responsibilities
* Production and review of monthly management and assisting with annual statutory accounts
* Responsibility for accurate preparation of budgets and forecasts
* Preparation and presentation of financial reports and liaison with budget holders and other stakeholders external to finance to discuss and review
* Maintaining a high level of technical accounting knowledge to ensure that accounts are prepared correctly and in line with the relevant accounting standards.
* Ensure all reporting deadlines are met without exception
* Manage workload, delivery and development of management and assistant management accountants
* Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations
* Journal processing, including ensuring the correct accounting of accruals and prepayments
* Review of assistant management accounts work to ensure accuracy
* Interrogation of financial systems to identify errors and make corrections
* Variance analysis
* Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
* Identify opportunities for improvements and challenge the status quo
* External returns and reporting
What the client is looking for
* Qualified to AAT Level or above
* Working towards or qualified with CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent
* Previous experience of working within a finance/accounting department
* Previous experience of working within a management accounts team
* Previous experience of working within the Housing Sector would be beneficial
* Previous experience of presenting management accounts to senior leaders
* Confidently able to use all Microsoft products including Word and Excel
* Advanced user of Excel, able to use functions such as LOOKUPS, IF statements, SUMIFS and pivot tables
* Able to manipulate data to produce accurate financial information and reports to leaders
* An eye for detail favouring accuracy over speed
