Job Description and Person Specification We’re looking for a hard-working individual to join our friendly and committed team at our St Michael’s Hospice retail facility in Whitestone, near Bartestree, Hereford. If you can spot your Primark from your Prada or your FF from your Boden, then this role will be perfect for you! A large proportion of this role will require sorting of stock such as clothing and Bric-a-Brac ready to stock the shop floors across our retail portfolio. If you’re someone who goes the extra mile to deliver exceptional customer service to both donors and customers, we’d love to hear from you. This role will be varied-frequently representing the hospice on the donation centre desk to accept donations from the public, or on occasion taking to the road in one of our vans to ensure stock makes its way to the right shops across the county. Previous warehousing or customer service experience would be an advantage, but if you’re a quick learner with plenty of enthusiasm, we’ll provide full training. Good organisation skills, an ability to multi-task together with a flexible approach are essential this role. As the position involves moving and handling, a good level of physical fitness is required. You will be an ambassador for St Michael’s at all times. Reports to: Warehouse and Distribution Manager Job Purpose: To work with the Retail and warehouse teams to ensure the Whitestone retail, donation centre and distribution site is open when advertised. To assist in the donation, sorting and distribution centre. Accepting donations from the public and sorting items ready for recycling, sale or upcycling. To ensure Health and Safety standards are upheld at all times Key Responsibilities: To assist the public in welcoming them to the Whitestone site to donate items, ensuring a friendly and professional service, showing gratitude, helping to carry/move items from the donor’s vehicle where required, and ensuring data is captured for gift aid and future contact. To capture accurately donor information, including all contact details and gift aid declarations To assist in ‘first sort’ of donated items and remove unsaleable items to recycling or disposal Identify appropriate stock for other shops in line with the retail strategy segmentation. If requested drive a hospice vehicle to distribute stock On occasion to accept deliveries on site Help maintain outdoor areas in bad weather assisting with the clearing of paths for snow and ice before the public arrive on site. To assist with the daily opening and/or closing of identified sites, including locking up, setting of alarms and carrying out checks Work with the team to keep the donation centre clean and tidy To work within the requirements of Health and Safety Legislation.
