Job Overview
The post holder will be a senior manager and subject matter expert with overarching responsibility for the development and implementation of sustainability strategies that achieve measurable carbon emission reductions both at Croydon University Hospital and throughout the local health economy. Acting as a leader, specialist advisor, educator, and trainer, the post holder will guide the organisation, its executive and trust boards, and various working groups-including Carbon Champions-by promoting carbon reduction initiatives and fostering collaboration.
This role requires the ability to influence strategic partnerships and joint ventures, contribute to corporate objectives, and deliver comprehensive, efficient services for patients, visitors, and staff, all while championing innovative solutions aligned with the Trust's objectives. The post holder will be accountable for meeting national carbon emission reduction targets for NHS organisations and will drive the sustainable service developments necessary to fulfil these commitments.
Additionally, the post holder will deputise for the Director of Estates & Facilities or Chief Financial Officer on matters relating to sustainability and carbon emissions reduction as required.
Responsibilities
* Professional accountability for the Trust's Support Services and leading the operational direction of Facility Services.
* Ad hoc working at weekends on a rota basis if required and on call.
* Manage a budget of approximately £10m per annum.
* Contractual management of outsourced services.
* Advise, educate, and train staff and stakeholders on sustainability strategies.
* Influence and secure strategic partnerships and joint ventures to further carbon reduction initiatives.
* Lead the development and implementation of sustainability strategies across the Trust and the local health economy.
