Overview
The C4 Head and Neck Ward at Poole Hospital cares for elective and emergency ENT (ear, nose and throat) and maxillofacial patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who has an interest in caring for head and neck patients and would like to join our friendly, dynamic team.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care in both ward and clinic environments.
* Support patients in the two emergency treatment rooms (ambulatory care) and SDEC (same‑day emergency care).
* Ensure stock and equipment are available, instruments are prepared, scopes are processed appropriately, clinic lists are managed and patient admissions are completed.
* Perform advanced skills, including complex airway care (tracheostomies and laryngectomies), taking ECGs, cannulation, venepuncture, wound management, administering enteral feeds and providing patient training and education.
Qualifications
* Training will be provided; support will be given to work through required competencies.
* Applicants with a care certificate accreditation will start at Band 3; those who do not meet the required competencies will initially be employed as Band 2.
* Successful candidates must be able to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment.
* Applicants will be required to obtain and have a DBS check, with the cost to be repaid from salary upon appointment.
Location & Relocation
Base location: Poole Hospital with relocation to Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) in July 2026. The service has a planned move from Poole site to Bournemouth site on 26 July 2026.
