As a Pharmacist Functional Assessor, you will support fair and consistent disability benefit decisions through evidence‑based functional assessments. The role is non‑hands‑on, non‑dispensing, and focused on clinical reasoning, evidence review, and structured report writing. This is a Monday to Friday, office‑hours role with hybrid working and full training provided. Key details Salary: £39,500–£42,000 plus approval and performance‑related bonus Location: Aylesbury assessment centre Working pattern: Monday to Friday, office hours only Hybrid working: Minimum two days per week onsite (not fully remote) No evenings, nights, weekends or on‑call Full‑time and part‑time opportunities available The role You will use your clinical knowledge to complete structured functional assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and/or Work Capability Assessment (WCA). Assessments focus on how health conditions and treatment regimens affect a person’s ability to manage daily activities or work‑related tasks. This role does not involve dispensing, prescribing, or medicines supply, but instead uses your analytical and clinical judgement skills within a clearly defined assessment framework. Assessments are completed via: Telephone Video consultation Face‑to‑face (non‑clinical setting) You will typically complete 3 to 5 assessments per day, depending on assessment type. What you will do Carry out structured functional assessments using clinical judgement Review medical evidence, medication histories, and supporting documentation Explore the functional impact of long‑term conditions and treatments Produce clear, accurate, evidence‑based written reports Use secure digital assessment systems Communicate professionally and empathetically with service users What you will not do Dispense medication or manage prescriptions Prescribe or adjust treatment Make diagnoses Make benefit entitlement decisions Work evenings, weekends, or shifts Essential criteria Active GPhC registration as a Pharmacist Minimum 1 year post‑registration clinical experience Strong analytical and report‑writing skills Confidence interpreting clinical information and medical evidence Comfortable working with IT systems and structured processes Applicants must have Right to Work in the UK.
