Senior Model Design Engineer at our Silverstone Facility involves working with a team of design engineers to deliver quality 60% model parts for Wind Tunnel testing, supporting aerodynamic development of race cars. We foster an environment where challenging ideas and sharing innovations are encouraged.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Design and deliver high-quality parts for Wind Tunnel testing.
* Manage complete design projects, including creation, checking, documentation, and fault resolution.
* Improve the quality and functionality of model parts to enhance Wind Tunnel testing efficiency.
* Support development of improved working methods.
* Collaborate with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to meet requirements.
* Mentor junior team members and promote methodological improvements.
* Ensure adherence to standard design practices.
* Occasional travel may be required.
Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport or related field.
* Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in motorsport.
* Proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
* Strong understanding of part quality, model layout, and robustness.
* Expertise in parametric modelling techniques.
* Ability to apply structural engineering techniques (FEA).
* Knowledge of materials and manufacturing, including composites and digital manufacturing.
* Understanding of GD&T principles.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Ability to work accurately and efficiently.
* Effective communication with stakeholders and directors.
* Proficient in MS Office Suite.
* Commitment to an inclusive and diverse culture.
