Job Summary
The CDM Advisor will support projects across the UK and Republic of Ireland, based in our London or Glasgow city‑centre office, with approximately three site visits per month. You will work three days per week in the office and two days from home, reporting to the Engineering and CDM Compliance Lead EMEA. The role requires deep knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and responsibilities of Principal Designers, Designers, and Principal Contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure CDM Principal Designers and Designers roles and responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with CDM 2015 Regulations.
* Support Black & Veatch in fulfilling the duties of the Principal Designer, acting as CDM‑Advisor to support the client when necessary.
* Provide PSDP role support on projects in Ireland when required.
* Liaise with CDM Principal Designers, Clients and Designers to share relevant information for planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating design, construction, and commissioning phases.
* Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety in the pre‑construction phase, taking into account existing health and safety files and other relevant information.
* Advise the client in compiling pre‑construction information and provide designers and contractors with the information needed to carry out their duties.
Minimum Qualifications
* Several years of experience in the construction industry with CDM/Health and Safety issues.
* Excellent working knowledge of CDM 2015 and relevant UK and Republic of Ireland safety legislation.
* Demonstrated experience delivering Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles on large industrial or energy projects.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
* Incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
* Full and clean driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverables.
* Intermediate knowledge of construction, constructability practices, procurement, contract administration, and project controls.
* Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) qualification.
* Energy sector experience.
* Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards it.
