Out of Hours Salaried General Practitioner
Berkshire Healthcare is seeking dedicated general practitioners(GPs)to join our Urgent CareOut ofHoursservice(WestCall)whichprovides urgent medical advice and assessment to all patients living in theBerkshire Westarea whendaytimeprimary care is closed.
Operatingweekdaysbetween 6:30pm to 8am and 24 hours across weekends and bank holidays,ourservice provides advice and treatment for patientswho have called 111 and require urgent primary care.
We offer an individually tailored induction programme to help you settle into your role followed by ongoing professional support fromclinical meetings,casereviewand peer feedback, all of which is designed to help you become an experienced and skilledout of hoursclinician.
As part of our innovative team, we will provide you with all thediagnostic equipmentrequiredto undertake the roleincluding access to the latest clinical software and point of care testing.We provide a driver and a vehicle for your home visits.Primary Care Centrehealthcare assistants are at hand to take baseline observations on your patients as well as toassist you in conducting ECG and urine analysis on request..
This roleisaface-to-faceclinical rolebasedat ourPrimary CareCentre at theWest BerkshireCommunityHospitalin Thatcham, Berkshire.Thehourswe currently have on offerare,alternateSaturdays1800-2400hrs &alternateSundays1300-1900and1900-2400hrs
Main duties of the job
Providetimelyclinical care at ourPrimary Care Centres based at theWest Berkshire Community Hospital.
Access to hospital discharge letters and patient test results whichfacilitatessafe patient care and minimises clinical risk.
To ensure that whereappropriate, the patient is referred for further management with the relevant service, e.g. secondary care specialities, urgent communityresponseand other community services.
To contribute to the training and development of Clinical and non-clinical staff, e.g. GP registrars, Trainee Advanced Practitioners, Paramedics.
Work within local prescribing guidelines (SCAN/Microguide) with the ability to prescribe electronically.

Job responsibilities
The must haves for this role:
MRCGP or equivalent
Inclusion on NHS Englands Medical Performers list
Ability to manage common acute illness presentations in both adults and paediatric patients
Maintain up to date appraisal and revalidation
Experience of working in primary care/OOH/Urgent Care

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
* To hold a degree in medicine that is recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
* GMC Registration as a General Practitioner with entry on the GP Performers List
* JCPTGP - Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice
Continuous Professional Development
* Evidence of continuing professional development (appraisal/revalidation)
* Satisfactory appraisal within the last 12 months
Previous Experience
* Recent experience of working as General Practitioner
* Previous experience in remote management of patients
