Our client has an excellent contract opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer. As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will be responsible for translating design intent into a robust, efficient, and repeatable production system for a high-altitude UAV platform, ensuring adherence to Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule targets. Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Location: Farnborough Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (37 hours a week) Salary: £43.13 per hour via Umbrella (inside IR35) Reporting to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities Design and qualification of a production system using Manufacturing System Engineering principles (cellular production, lean flow, line balancing, capital equipment definition, factory layout, and process simulation). Define and deliver shop-floor requirements in collaboration with Facilities Management. Create and update MRP system routings, job card definitions, standard operating instructions (SOIs), and quality documentation. Support procurement, generate technical dossiers, and contribute to Make vs Buy decisions. Provide technical problem-solving support to production and supply chain teams. Apply APQP tools and methodologies as appropriate. Conduct Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design to Cost (DTC) assessments and provide input to engineering teams. Liaise with tooling, jigs, and ground support equipment teams for design, manufacture, calibration, and maintenance activities. Define and track production KPIs with operations. Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes and systems. Support Health & Safety performance and compliance. Promote and enable a "Right First Time" quality culture through effective feedback loops and process governance. Requirements & Skills Experience in the Aerospace/Space industry (preferred, not essential). Manufacturing assembly background. Experience in Avionics and/or Assembly, Integration & Test. Ability to read, review, and create end-to-end process documentation and Process Instructions (PIs). Experience creating and reviewing assembly PIs and ERP routings. Strong attention to detail and process review capability. Ability to create new PIs and identify process improvements and supporting tooling. ERP/PLM knowledge, including system setup/configuration. Experience creating/editing Bills of Materials (BoMs). Experience using PLM/ERP tools (e.g., Arena, MS Dynamics 365). Experience with RCCA methodology. Experience creating test plans in an Avionics environment. Experience in regulated environments (CAA; Part G; Part J; etc.). Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication skills. English to negotiation level.
