Description Salary £40,777 - £46,142 Per annum | Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week | Specialist Teaching Service - Lancashire International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship Job Title: Education Inclusion Officer Full-time (37 hours), permanent, Grade 9. Would consider term-time only for the suitable candidates. This post will require travel throughout Lancashire therefore car user is essential. Lancashire County Council has a very exciting development supporting mainstream inclusion as part of the Alternative Provision team. The local authority is seeking to appoint two Education Inclusion Officers to support children presenting with access to education challenges. This role will lead on supporting schools with access to alternative provision, ensuring legislation relating to SEND, Child Missing Education, Elective Home Education and Section 19 Education Act 1996 is being followed. This role will lead on supporting the integrated SEND and alternative provision system for Lancashire with a clear focus on the voice of the child. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to provide support to educational settings to deliver improved outcomes for vulnerable learners. The Education Inclusion Officer role will include the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their knowledge within specific areas of Inclusion and Alternative Provision and lead or focus area in line with service development. This post will be located within the Specialist Teaching Service team and consists of teachers, high level teaching assistants, technicians and support workers who support multiple disciplines. The service supports early years children, children and young people with sensory needs, autistic spectrum condition, ADHD, physical disabilities and learning needs. The service also supports families who elect home education, children and young people who are at risk of permanent exclusion and those who require medical placements under Section 19: Education Act 1996. The role will consist of: Liaising with wider partners to develop and embed Lancashire's integrated SEND and alternative provision system. To be innovative and solution-focused when supportively challenging settings to meet the needs of children and young people on roll. To have oversight of Section 19 and Permanent Exclusion panel where evidence-based decisions are made and the use of alternative provision to support access to education. To track and monitor suspensions and exclusions to offer support to schools at the earliest point required. To track and monitor children and young people in alternative provision and have a good overview of capacity in the pupil referral units across Lancashire. To ensure we have child and young person views at the forefront of decision making. To have oversight and line manage a small team of Education Support Workers who support families and schools across Lancashire, prevent permanent exclusions and support children and young people to access education and reach their potential. To work in collaboration with other Inclusion Services and Teams within the Education and Inclusion directorate as required for this role. To deliver training and key messages to wider partners, settings and professionals.
