Our local authority client has a excellent opportunity for drivers who enjoy managing their own workload, delivering high standards of service, and working closely with the local community.
As an LGV/HGV Driver, you will operate a range of waste collection vehicles across York, observing health and safety requirements and being responsible for the safety of crew, self and members of the public. Working as part of a dedicated waste management team, you’ll be working with a team of waste loaders and will be required to assist with loading duties when required.
The pay rate for this role is £14.72 per hour. This is a temporary role for a minimum of 3 months, potentially longer.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Driving and operating LGV/HGV waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
2. Carrying out waste collection and disposal services across the York area.
3. Following all health and safety procedures and client guidelines.
4. Supporting waste loaders with collection duties when needed.
5. Ensuring the safety of colleagues, pedestrians, and other road users.
6. Delivering reliable, professional service to the local community.
You will need:
7. Driver CPC Qualification.
8. Full Category C Driving Licence.
9. Class 2 Driving Licence.
10. A Digital Tachograph Card.
11. Ability to work as part of a team.
12. Experience of working under prolonged periods of sustained physical effort.
Previous experience with waste or recycling would be an advantage although the client will offer in-house, on the job training and instruction on the various vehicles they operate in their fleet, so your experience as a driver will be utilised and your skills and knowledge base will increase.
