Anderson Knight are delighted to be working exclusively with our Glasgow based client to appoint an exceptional, technically strong Financial Controller to join a dynamic and complex multi-entity organisation. This is a high-impact leadership role for a qualified finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, combining technical excellence with commercial insight and strong governance.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will take full ownership of financial control, statutory compliance, and reporting across the group, while driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and performance.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will lead the accounting function and play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting. You will operate as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, contributing to strategic decision-making and business performance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with UK GAAP
* Owning the month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities
* Managing statutory reporting and acting as the primary liaison with external auditors
* Ensuring full compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and other filings
* Establishing and enhancing robust internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity
* Leading internal audit coordination and proactively addressing control gaps and process improvements
* Driving continuous improvement in accounting policies, procedures, and financial governance
* Overseeing core finance operations including general ledger, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and cash management
* Partnering closely with FP&A and operational leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
* Supporting business cases, cost optimisation initiatives, and capital expenditure planning
* Delivering insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
* Leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing finance team, fostering accountability and professional growth
* Overseeing the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and accounting platforms
About You:
You are a technically outstanding finance leader with a strong track record operating in complex, multi-entity environments. You combine deep technical expertise with commercial awareness and the ability to influence at a senior level.
You will bring:
* A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
* Significant progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership of a finance function
* Deep technical expertise in UK GAAP and statutory reporting
* Proven experience managing external audits and auditor relationships
* Strong knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and governance frameworks
* The ability to identify financial risks and challenges, and proactively develop practical solutions
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
* A collaborative approach, with the confidence to partner effectively with senior stakeholders
* Experience improving processes, systems, and efficiencies within a finance function
