Job Description Job title: Development Underwriter Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Car Allowance Location: Midlands Overview We’re seeking a passionate and highly motivated Development Underwriter to join a regional team covering the Midlands region. As a development underwriter, you’ll play a key role in writing new business, advancing our underwriting strategy, and fostering strong relationships with brokers, partners, and clients. Responsibilities Assess and evaluate new and renewal business within the P&C sector, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Underwrite a range of commercial lines with a keen eye for identifying profitable opportunities. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with brokers, external partners, and clients to promote business growth in a competitive market. Develop and execute underwriting strategies to achieve regional and corporate objectives. Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and market developments to support informed decision-making. Experience Possess proven experience (3 years) in underwriting across commercial lines. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess, price, and manage risk effectively. Have excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with partners and stakeholders. Are adept at working independently and collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
